2021 Golf 1.4 TSI Jul 25, 2021 VW Golf Mk7 Estate, GT, 1.4T SI 140PS, 6 speed Manual, Tungsten Silver Metallic / Titan Black, Loads of factory options & OEM+ mods.
I have 1.4 TSI ACT DSG with 18" wheels, and was never able to go below 7.3l/100km. Usually its above 8.0l/100km.
There was no hot Golf SV, but an R-Line edition arrived in May 2016, with a sportier design and a choice of 1.4 TSI or 2.0 TDI engines. Dampers Shock absorbers can fail prematurely, so check for My local VW dealer has problems with Mk7 Golf’s (1.4lt) which have sat on the forecourt without moving for a few months & a customer takes one for a test drive. The customer gets half way down the road & the engine management lights come on & the car goes into “limp mode”. Had a momentary transmission warning message flash at me today. It was too short to catch. Nothing in the car menu of infotainment system. Pulled a U0212 code from both the ECU and TCU modules. Says "lost communication with steering column control module." No issues with the transmission, no I´m planning on upgrading my Golf MK7 (euro-spec) 1.4 TSI 140hp with a RaceChip box. But from what i´ve read from 2.0 TSI owners a possible Diverter Valve problem could appear, because of the higher boost pressure. So I have a difficult decision to make. I can go for a 50,000 mile 1.4 TSI or a 70,000 miles 1.5 TSI. Decision time. What would the forum vote for? And why? So wifey's '16 GTi SE w/perf pkg (commuter car ), that just logs slow, highway miles just clicked 70k - and dealer quoted the following: replace thermostat housing (just the housing, not pump) - $1710; mount two new tires - $599 (I just had 4 new Michelin SS mounted early 2019); replace brake pads - $1345 (front with rotors, rear just pads); recondition 4 wheels (some inner well dents) - $1,259.
